D I R E C T I O N S

  1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden and nutty. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, white sugar, egg, egg yolk and vanilla until smooth and glossy.

  3. Add the cooled browned butter and mix until combined.

  4. Add in the flour, baking soda and salt to the wet mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.

  5. Fold through your Christmas mix-ins such as white and milk chocolate, Christmas M&Ms, chopped chewy toffees and crushed pretzels.

  6. Chill the dough for 20 to 30 minutes for thicker cookies or bake immediately for a slightly flatter, chewier cookie.

  7. Roll dough into balls and arrange on a lined baking tray, leaving space for spreading.

  8. Bake at 175°C for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and the centres are just set.

  9. While warm, press extra M&Ms, chocolate chunks, pretzels or toffee pieces on top for that loaded Christmas look. (optional)

  10. Cool on the tray before transferring to a wire rack.
